The projects will cover 1,062 roads and lanes across 27 unauthorised colonies. The planned works include the development of approximately 89.82 km of roads and 147.69 km of drainage networks to improve local connectivity, strengthen stormwater management and reduce waterlogging.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Government aims to strengthen basic civic infrastructure across the city. She added that development works are being undertaken in a planned manner in areas that have faced long-standing infrastructure challenges. Roads, drains, sewerage and drainage are essential civic amenities, and the government is working to extend these facilities to every locality.
Kirari accounts for the largest share of the projects, with 27 development works planned across 14 unauthorised colonies at a cost of Rs 105.51 crore. The works will cover 640 roads and lanes, including the development of 50.71 km of roads and 101.42 km of drainage networks. The proposed stormwater drainage infrastructure is expected to improve water management and reduce waterlogging.
In Bawana, nine development works worth Rs 38.83 crore will be undertaken. Mundka will receive five works worth Rs 22.05 crore, while four projects worth Rs 14.48 crore are planned in Narela. Nangloi Jat will see eight development works worth Rs 33.25 crore.
The projects include the construction and improvement of paved roads, lanes and stormwater drainage networks. These works are expected to improve neighbourhood connectivity, facilitate rainwater drainage and reduce dust generated by unpaved and damaged road surfaces.
