Indore Utthan Samiti Proposes Elevated Corridor with Rotary to Ease Traffic on AB Road

The Indore Utthan Samiti (Indore Upliftment Committee) has raised concerns over the current plan of constructing six flyovers and one grade separator on the busy AB Road stretch between MR-9 and Naulakha, stating it may not adequately address Indore’s growing traffic problems.
After conducting detailed traffic surveys, the committee on Friday proposed an alternative solution: a rotary-equipped elevated corridor designed to allow smoother traffic movement both at ground level and above. They believe this design will better ensure signal-free intersections and ease congestion on this key 5.5 km corridor.
The Indore Development Authority (IDA) is currently surveying the proposed flyovers and grade separator, which are expected to cover 63% of the AB Road stretch. However, the committee warns that steep gradients on these flyovers could inconvenience commuters and may not effectively resolve bottlenecks at intersections.
The Samiti has urged authorities to consider the elevated corridor with rotary junctions as a more sustainable and traffic-efficient solution for the future of urban mobility in Indore.
