Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has unveiled ambitious plans for Bengaluru, planning to inaugurate two major projects worth ₹35,930 Crore by December 2024. These initiatives aim to tackle the city's traffic congestion effectively.

Firstly, the Bengaluru Satellite Township Ring Road (STRR) project, originally budgeted at ₹17,000 crore, is now slated to be completed by December 2024, a year ahead of schedule. Launched in June 2022, the STRR aims to connect Bengaluru's peripheries, reducing city traffic by an estimated 30%.

Secondly, the long-awaited Bengaluru-Chennai Greenfield Corridor, valued at ₹17,930 crore and announced in 2018, is nearing completion after six years of development. This corridor promises to significantly slash travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai to just two hours upon its opening later this year.

Gadkari also highlighted Karnataka's substantial infrastructure investments, amounting to ₹3.5 lakh crore in road transport projects over the last decade. Every Member of Parliament from the state has received funding for various infrastructure initiatives, underlining the government's commitment to enhancing Karnataka's connectivity and mobility infrastructure.
