Tata Power Commissions 400 kV Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project in Uttar Pradesh
The project has been executed through TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited (TPJKPTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power. The second element comprises a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between Khurja and Jalpura, spanning 162 circuit kilometres (CKM), along with a 400/220 kV GIS substation at Jalpura with 1,000 MVA transformation capacity.
The transmission corridor comprises two circuits of approximately 81 km each, creating a critical high-voltage link between Khurja and Jalpura. Khurja is a key power transmission node in Western Uttar Pradesh and supports the movement of electricity towards NCR and Noida.
The newly commissioned 400/220 kV GIS substation at Jalpura will facilitate the transfer of power from the 400 kV high-voltage grid to the 220 kV network. With 1,000 MVA transformation capacity, the substation is expected to support rising electricity demand while improving the reliability, resilience and efficiency of the regional transmission network.
The commissioning strengthens the power infrastructure required to support the continued growth of NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh and contributes to the development of a robust and future-ready electricity grid. The project also reinforces Tata Power’s capabilities in developing large-scale transmission infrastructure to support India’s evolving power requirements.
