Advait Energy Wins Rs 51.61 Crore Power Distribution Contract from DGVCL

Power-Infrastructure
Advait Energy Transitions Ltd. has secured a turnkey contract worth Rs. 51.61 crore from Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (DGVCL) for strengthening the power distribution network in Gujarat. The contract involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 11 kV, 55 mm² AAAC Medium Voltage Covered Conductor (MVCC) systems under the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana-2 (VKY-2) scheme. The project is scheduled to be completed within 15 months and is aimed at improving the reliability and safety of power distribution infrastructure in the project areas.

The order reflects a broader shift in India's power sector, where utilities are increasingly prioritising distribution network resilience alongside capacity expansion. While transmission infrastructure has received significant attention over the past decade, improving the reliability of last-mile electricity distribution, particularly in rural and tribal regions, has become equally critical to supporting economic development, agricultural productivity and industrial growth.

Medium Voltage Covered Conductor (MVCC) technology is gaining wider adoption across utilities because it enhances network reliability while reducing outages caused by vegetation, wildlife contact and adverse weather conditions. These systems also improve operational safety and minimise technical losses, making them particularly suitable for areas with challenging terrain and dispersed populations.

The project forms part of Gujarat's continued investment in strengthening electricity infrastructure under the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana, which focuses on accelerating socio-economic development across tribal regions through improved public infrastructure, including reliable power supply.

Commenting on the development, Shalin Sheth, Founder and Managing Director, Advait Energy Transitions Limited, said, "India's energy transition is not only about adding renewable generation; it also depends on creating stronger, smarter and more reliable distribution networks that can deliver uninterrupted power to every community. Distribution infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as rural electrification matures, electricity demand grows and utilities modernise ageing networks. This project reflects that larger transformation and reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure that strengthens the country's power ecosystem."
