Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Set to Transform Hill Travel by 2026

A major leap in sustainable mountain tourism and urban mobility is on the horizon with the upcoming Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway. Developed by Mussoorie Sky Car Private Limited, the 5.2-kilometre mono-cable detachable gondola system will cut travel time between Dehradun and Mussoorie to just 20 minutes, with the first phase expected to be completed by September 2026.

Once operational, the ropeway will be South Asia’s longest of its kind and among the world’s longest, offering a green alternative to road travel in the hilly region. The project is being executed by a consortium of FIL Industries Private Limited, POMA SAS, and SRM Engineering LLP.

FIL Industries, known for its ropeway project Skyview by Empyrean in Jammu & Kashmir, brings expertise in sustainable tourism infrastructure. SRM Engineering contributes its infrastructure development experience from projects across India and abroad, while POMA SAS, a global leader in ropeway technology, will provide technical support and equipment, much of which will be manufactured in India. The project also marks POMA’s first concession investment in the country.

“A collaboration like Mussoorie Sky Car will ensure that the project benefits from cutting-edge technology, global engineering expertise, European safety standards, and sustainable design. Together, we are building India’s longest and safest cable car system. Through world-class projects like this, our goal is to place India firmly on the global map as a hub for an advanced, fast, safe, and eco-friendly ropeway system,” said Syed Junaid Altaf – Group Executive Director, FIL Industries Private Limited.
