Decks clear for Chennai port corridor
The 19 km-long Maduravoyal-Chennai Port elevated corridor project, which remained stalled for the last five years, is all set to be revived with the state government giving its nod for the mega project. It may be recalled that the project that was frozen after the state government raised objections to the alignment, was resolved as the State opted for a suggestion wherein the alignment along Cooum would have single piers at almost all places barring a few where it will be double pier, said a National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) sources, adding that the alignment is more or less the same. It is reported that NHAI has gone in for a detailed project report for the elevated corridor and it is expected to be submitted in the next three to four months after which work is expected to begin.
