The state government in Andhra Pradesh has set aside a staggering sum worth Rs. 7,741 crore for the speedy expediting the execution of capital city development works to be carried out by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA and UD) wings. Of the targeted outlay, the CRDA‘s share is around Rs 1,000 crore, said an official spokesperson, elaborating that Amaravati, the Praja Rajadhani, has entered the crucial phase of construction as it is the first green field city selected as a Smart City. Various infrastructural works costing about Rs 45,000 crore, are being executed by CRDA and the latest infusion of funds for the MA and UD and CRDA will further add to the growth momentum. The State government allotted Rs 457 crore for the Amaravati Capital City Development project, under which the infrastructure in the capital will be developed and another Rs 166 crore is proposed to be spent over the land pooling, and Rs 65.6 crore is proposed towards capital region social security fund. The Union government has released Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 1,500 crore towards capital construction and Rs 1,000 crore for drainage projects in Vijayawada and Guntur in the last four years, he added.
