A full-fledged, and exclusive Customer Care Center–cum–Operator Training School was inaugurated by
Dr Eberhard Wedekind, recently at Hoskote, Bangalore. Yet another step by the Road Equipment giant, towards total customer care and service. The highlight of the function was the Volvo Machines on the ramp, dancing to soulful music.
Volvo Construction Equipment has invested in this sophisticated Customer Demo Center-cum-operator training school, which will provide training, in maintenance and trouble- shooting as well as in operating sophisticated construction equipment. This Center will be open to its customers, dealers and general candidates, to strengthen knowledge and skills, in road technology. Volvo has been constantly setting new benchmarks in quality and performance and with this new training center it has taken one more innovative step towards providing excellence in service to its stakeholders.

The training Center is built over 10 acres and with an investment of $2.5 million (around Rs 12 crores). The Operator Training School boasts of training stations for excavating, loading, hauling, grading and very shortly stations for road machinery such as paving and compaction. New machines have been dedicated for the purpose of training with costs ranging between Rs 20 lakhs for compactors to Rs 2.5 crores for Articulated Haulers. The aggregate cost of all dedicated equipment is Rs 7.5 crores.
A hightech Wheel Loader Simulator initiates new candidates into the sophisticated operations of Wheel Loaders, before actually moving on to the loader station, for advanced operator’s training.
In 2009, Volvo CE India is set to train over 100 machine operators with capacity to double the inflow and about 400 technicians in this training facility.
Elaborating on the plan for the Customer Care Center, Dr Eberhard Wedekind said, “This Customer Center is one of its kind in India. Spread across 10 acres and built to global standards, the Center is an epitome of Volvo’s corporate values of Quality, Safety and Environmental care. Volvo has invested 2.5 MUSD (an equivalent of Rs. 12 crores) on creating this facility to cater to training needs of a broad spectrum of society. The facility has trained Instructors with more than 15 years of expertise. A comprehensive training facility of this scale does not exist in India currently for construction equipment and Volvo is happy to have pioneered this initiative.
