Bhupinder Singh on bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026
bauma CONEXPO INDIA is not just a showcase of machines; it acts as a collaboration engine – connecting OEMs, contractors, technology firms, financiers, and policymakers, enabling structured buyer–seller meetings, and policy conversations.
Bhupinder Singh, President IMEA (India, Middle East, Africa) Messe Muenchen CEO, Messe Muenchen India
India is advancing through a transformative decade for infrastructure and construction equipment. How do you assess the evolving opportunities and challenges in this landscape, and what role will bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 play in driving innovation, collaboration, and investment in the sector?
India’s infrastructure push has moved into a phase where intent is matched by speed. Mega expressways, multimodal logistics hubs, industrial corridors and urban projects are creating a surge in demand for mechanisation, localization, and advanced technologies. The opportunity is enormous, but so is the responsibility to execute efficiently and sustainably. The challenges are equally real. The industry needs a stronger skilled workforce, more resilient supply chains, and equipment that can deliver higher safety and productivity at lower operating costs. Project owners are demanding smarter solutions and faster turnaround, which raises the bar for everyone.
bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 is designed to help the industry navigate this shift. Instead of being just a showcase of machines, it acts as a collaboration engine—connecting OEMs, contractors, technology firms, financiers, and policymakers. Whether it is demonstrating low-emission machinery, enabling structured buyer–seller meetings, or initiating policy conversations, our aim is to make adoption easier, faster, and friction-free.
bauma CONEXPO INDIA has emerged as a gateway between India and the global construction ecosystem. How is the 2026 edition enhancing international participation in terms of country pavilions, technology collaborations, and overseas buyer engagement to strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing and export hub?
India has become a high-growth market plus a promising export base for construction equipment. Many international players now see India as central to their IMEA strategy, while Indian manufacturers continue to prove their capability in cost-efficient engineering. For 2026, we are making it easier for global stakeholders to engage with India meaningfully. We are expanding our country pavilions, becoming more focused and more aligned with product families so that technology comparisons are seamless. We are curating collaboration formats where global IP owners and Indian manufacturers can explore co-production, localisation and joint R&D.
At the same time, we are strengthening our hosted-buyer program to bring procurement leaders not only from across the world but focused buyers from Africa, the Middle East, SAARC and Eastern Europe—regions that increasingly source from India. Ultimately, our goal is simple: shorten the distance between India’s manufacturing capability and global demand.
In the previous edition of bauma CONEXPO INDIA many companies were unable to secure allocations due to full capacity. How are you addressing this demand in the upcoming edition? Will you be expanding the exhibition space, optimizing the layout, or creating more outdoor zones to accommodate the growing participation and large-equipment displays?
The surge in outdoor space demand is one of the strongest indicators of industry confidence. Hence, for 2026, the outdoor footprint is being expanded significantly, with high load-bearing zones and improved turning radii for large equipment. The entire layout has been re-engineered to improve flow with wider avenues, defined equipment “show streets,” and clearer separation between static displays and live demos. We’re also introducing scheduled demo slots so more brands can safely run live demonstrations without compromising safety or visitor experience. The aim is to create an environment where exhibitors can showcase the full capabilities of their machines and visitors can experience them without any constraint.

As competition intensifies among construction equipment exhibitions, how is the event differentiating itself through data-driven insights, global partnerships, and a value-driven exhibitor and visitor experience? How do you ensure it continues to set benchmarks in innovation, scale, and industry impact within the global CE exhibition circuit?
Our differentiation has never been about size; it has been about outcomes. Exhibitors trust us because we focus on business, not just footfall. Data-driven tools give them a clear picture of visitor behaviour, dwell time, and product interest, allowing them to fine-tune their engagement strategy on the spot.We also bring the advantage of global best practices through the international bauma network—whether it’s safety, sustainability or customer experience standards. And we invest in formats that create genuine momentum: curated buyer meetings, technical tours, sector-specific networking, and knowledge-rich conferences.
Our guiding principle is: be relevant, be reliable, and deliver measurable value every single time.
Digitalisation, sustainability, and decarbonisation are redefining construction practices. How are these themes being integrated to promote the industry’s transition toward smart, low-carbon, and resource-efficient construction?
These themes are no longer peripheral—they are shaping the industry’s next decade. The exhibition must reflect this shift in a way that is tangible and actionable. In 2026, visitors will find electrified and hybrid equipment, precision control systems, telematics platforms, alternative-fuel technologies and C&D recycling innovations showcased together to demonstrate what a low-carbon jobsite looks like.Parallel to that, our conference program places sustainability at the core—covering low-carbon construction, green procurement, digital twins and circular materials. Collaboration with industry bodies ensures that companies not only understand the direction of policy and financing but also know how to implement these transitions in real projects.
With rapid digital transformation reshaping global trade fairs, how are smart technologies such as digital twin exhibition planning, real-time visitor analytics, matchmaking apps, and data-driven insights being leveraged to enhance exhibitor ROI and visitor engagement?
Digital tools must do more than look modern; they must solve real challenges. Exhibitors can now plan their entire booth and visitor journey using digital-twin technology well before the event begins. Our smart matchmaking system connects visitor intent with exhibitor offerings, ensuring that meetings are purposeful rather than coincidental. And after the event, exhibitors receive a consolidated insight pack with warm leads and engagement analytics that feed directly into their sales pipeline. It’s about precision engagement and demonstrable ROI.
India’s CE industry is witnessing growing participation from startups, MSMEs, and technology innovators. What initiatives are being taken to support their visibility, encourage entrepreneurship, and foster cross-sector collaboration at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026?
Innovation in the CE sector is shifting toward modular, digital and sustainability-led solutions, and we want to give these next-generation innovators a strong platform. The 2026 edition will feature a dedicated Innovation Zone that showcases emerging technologies—from IoT modules to automation, safety tech and green materials. A structured pitch program will allow startups to present directly to contractors, EPCs and public buyers, accelerating pilots and procurement.
We will be hosting mentorship sessions with OEMs and rental leaders to help innovators navigate certification, integration and market access. By keeping participation costs manageable and linking startups with investors and OEM partners, we aim to help promising technologies find adoption faster and more effectively.
Workforce capability and inclusivity are key to sustaining growth. How is bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 working with industry bodies, academia, and government partners to promote skill development, diversity, and digital readiness among future professionals?
Sustained industry growth depends on a skilled and diverse workforce. Our job is to create avenues that make the construction sector more accessible, aspirational and future-ready.For 2026, we are working closely with industry associations, academia and government bodies to create a Skills Arena featuring operator simulators, digital tool workshops and safety modules. We are also hosting a dedicated platform for young professionals and women in construction, complete with guided tours, mentorship circles and leadership interactions.
Through faculty immersions and student engagement days focused on real industry roles— whether in BIM, telematics, asset health or sustainability reporting — we want to give the next generation clarity about the opportunities that lie ahead. When we invest in people alongside machines, the sector grows stronger and more resilient.
