Cummins India Introduces State-of-the-art Mining Engines at IMME

The 11 liter (QSM11), 15 liter (QSX15) & 23 liter (QSK23) engines from the Quantum series were on display at the recently concluded International Mining & Machinery Exhibition (IMME) at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
Speaking about the development Mr. Vikram Jaisinghani, Vice President, Industrial Engine Business Unit said, "Cummins has partnered the Mining industry in India for over 4 decades now. Over 6000 Cummins engines are currently working on various Mining equipments in India. The Mining industry is witnessing a technological revolution in terms of demand for cleaner, productive and higher capacity equipment. The release of these electronic controlled and emissions compliant engines built to deliver greater levels of productivity, durability and uptime reinforce our Mission to be the first to introduce best products and help our customers succeed. "These engines will be offered as Value packages to Mining customers and will include application engineering components from the cooling and air handling group," he added.
The introduction of these engines will be backed by Cummins Sales & Service (CSS) with its network of offices and dealerships spread across the country. The network is fully geared up to meet the technical challenges and service requirement with heavy investments in training, tooling and repair capabilities.
Cummins have invested upto Rs.800 Million to open a new state-of-the-art facility in its oldest campus in Pune to manufacture high horsepower engines. Starting 2009, the new facility will cater to the growing demand from global Mining OEMs.
Cummins India Limited, since 1962 has produced over 1,80,000 engines from its plant in Kothrud, Pune. The Industrial Engine Business Unit with stakes in Mining & Construction, Compressor, Loco, Marine and Oil & Gas has charted an aggressive growth path over the last 3 years.
