Red Dot Award 2012 for MOBA HMImc

The flexible MOBA HMImc concept for operating units is one of the winners of the international competition red dot design award 2012 in the category product design, division industry and crafts.

The MOBA HMImcconvinced the 30 member expert jury by its innovative design and the versatile combination of different modules to create individual operating units. From the small, compact single unit with display module and emergency stop switch up to the multifunctional unit of six modules with display-, keypad and joystick everything is possible. The first HMImcunits of three modules that were built according to customer's demands are used to controlaerial platforms.

Modular technology -modern design
Product Manager Boris Zilsabout the development of modular operating units informed: "The idea behind our new MOBA Product Platform is to offer modularly structured products that can be used in a wide variety of sectors. This was already the case for sensors and controllers, but we used to develop operating units for each project separately. So I got the idea to also build HMIs in a modular structure, to integrate them into the MOBA Product Platform and at the same time to be able to offer fast individual solutions for our customers."

The HMImcwas realized by the MOBA development team Ali Dogan, Thomas Kühr, Friedel Trost, Holger Weis-Lanzendörfer, Jürgen Wilkand Project Manager René Eufinger- together with designer Prof. Jürgen Goosfrom Karlsruhe. "In our segment, product design means not only the creation of the appearance, but also the expression of the internal qualities," says Dr. Jaroslaw Jurasz, Head of Development at MOBA.

Tough competition demands high quality
About 1800 companies submitted more than 4500 products in 19 divisions for the red dot design award. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot design award, pointed out the high quality level of the competition: "The most distinguished products of the respective branch of industry faced up not only to the tough competition this year again, but also to the critical eye of the jury. The experts thoroughly examined, tested and evaluated each individual entry applying the highest standards."

On 2nd July 2012, the present- ation of the internationally renowned quality seal will take place in the course of the red dot gala.

Afterwards, the HMImcwill be on display at a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum in Essen.
