Sharp Ply introduces ECP doors and window frames based on the concept of WPC

Sharp Ply, known for its innovations, has unveiled ECP doors and window frames based on the concept of WPC (wood & PVC composites), which has the advantages of both the materials. Engineered Composite Profile (ECP) is a unique innovation developed to enhance the existing modules of woodwork to enhance its longevity and convenience for the end-users, and is an excellent option for window & door frames as it is energy-efficient, low in maintenance, and highly durable.

It is made with co-extrusion of WPC on engineered lumber in a system-oriented manner. The outer layer provides resistance to block out harsh weather conditions such as humidity and heavy rainfall, and it is 100% termite proof. Engineered Lumber infill gives the profile a strong screw holding capacity along with superior strength.

“The product gives lifelong durability with ease of usage; and offers the advantages of both the materials. It’s a revolutionary product launched for the first time in India and as pioneers we are humbled to bring this door and window frame solution to the Indian market, which requires products that are better than the conventional timber products,” said Paras Kumar, Managing Director.

Keeping in mind the environmental impact, it is engineered to be eco-friendly with the core consisting of harvested wood and the outer layer made of recyclable WPC. Owing to the chemical properties of PVC, which has abundance of chlorine in its formulation, the product has great fire resistance. It is easy to install and can be fixed by any skilled carpenter using PU foam and anchor fasteners. The product is currently available in 4”X 2.5” section and is versatile to a great extent as it can be painted and polished.

Unlike wood, it does not expand or contract with temperature variations. It is also resistant to termites and doesn’t fade under exposure to sun or UV rays. Moreover, it comes with bitumen coating at the wood exposed parts of the frame to avoid water seepage. In fact, WPC’s characteristic is being waterproof. Compared to aluminium, ECP is a poor conductor of heat, nor does it rust or corrode. It requires little maintenance as one can clean the interior and exterior frame with a standard household cleaner diluted in water.

“We will be coming up with more sections and colours in the near future. We are also providing fixing solutions in combination with flush doors, where the joinery is done at the factory level and then delivered at site in a completely knockdown condition, where our team rearranges and fixes them at site,” informed Paras Kumar.
