SMM Focuses on Mining Segment

Coimbatore-based SMM Equipments Private Limited showcased a vast range of rock breakers for mining applications apart from ripper tooth and quick coupler. Mr. N Sathishkumar, the company's Chairman, informed, "We started in 1998 by importing excavators and rock breakers. Then in 2009, we started our brand under the name SMM. So far we have Crossed 1000 units, which are imported in accordance with our requirements. Our breakers are preferred by NBFCs and the nationalized banks."

He continued, "Soon, we are going to launch vibro-rippers, which will be used in limestone mining. Plus, we are also coming up with our own excavator brand. Talking of expansions, we are planning to expand our dealer-base across the country. When it comes to customer support, SMM offers 24x7 service and easy availability of spare parts. Complaints from customers are dealt with in less than six hours."

Being highly appreciative of Excon 2013, Mr. Sathishkumar said, "This is the grandest event on equipment and machinery in South Asia, and has lived up to its reputation. We have been able to reach out to OEMs, contractors, and developers, and gave generated healthy enquiries." Nevertheless, he felt the need for fast track movement of mining projects which are stuck in doldrums. "We need active implementation of policy and framework by the Centre."
