Everest Industries Executes PEB Project for Godrej Agrovet
Everest industries delivers a very complex 34.8m high G+6 multi-storey processing plant for Godrej Agrovet under difficult site conditions and with full safety compliance
Godrej Agrovet Ltd is among the largest oil palm producers in India and works directly with farmers for the entire lifecycle of their crop. Over the years, the company has developed more than 61,700 hectares of plantations across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra and Mizoram. To cater to the growing demand for edible oil, a greenfield capacity expansion was planned near the palm oil field in Chintalapudi Mandal, A.P by the company.
Everest Industries, India’s leading integrated Pre-Engineered Steel Building company, was chosen after a stringent process of short listing by Godrej to execute the complex palm oil manufacturing greenfield project. The scope of work for Everest Industries included design and engineering, manufacturing, logistics and erection of 7 buildings spread over 9550 sqm.
Once the material reached the site, a very challenging situation was faced; all the machinery required for the manufacturing process of oil was already installed. There was no direct access to the location where we had to install the buildings. On the front side, an ash handling building with a very high chimney was already installed; on the rear side, turbine foundation work was done, and a building was already constructed there.
To ensure timely completion of the project, Everest came up with a solution to carry out the complete installation of the building from the outside, using cranes. For this purpose, two 180 MT cranes were used to complete the erection work. The material was lifted to a height of 40 m to complete the boiler house building. During erection, to ensure safety of workers before start of the work, a safety briefing was carried out and training was given to them for working at height. It was made mandatory for all the workers to wear PPE equipment and to do erection work only when they were properly attached to safety harnesses.
