AM/NS India promotes steel for construction equipment
Specialized steel producer ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) is keen to increase its foothold in the infra construction sector which has led to a growing demand for construction equipment and pre-engineered buildings systems.
Soumyadeep Datta, Head-Plate Sales, AM/NS India, informed, “The joint venture of AM/NS India, having taken over the erstwhile assets of Essar Steel, is now ramping up production capacity from the current 8.4 million tons to 14 million tons. Once the expansion process is completed (by 2026), we will ramp up the production of Hot Rolled Coils (HRC), Cold Rolled Coils (CRC), pipes, tubes, and heavy plates. Our aim is to target construction equipment segments like tipper trucks, excavators, backhoe loaders, etc, and also pre-engineered building constructions.”
He added, “We are also coming up with specialized steel for solar industry and will be promoting our abrasive resistant steel Rockstar 400, 450, and 500, along with our specialized steel variants – the S690QL and S890QL - for the manufacturing of telescopic boom cranes, given our steels’ high tensile strength and superior ability to be welded.”
Datta informed that the products will be promoted to the OEMs as well as the retail markets. “We will meet the demand for steel of the OEMs based on their specifications and standards.”
