Uttar Pradesh Leads in Innovative Road Construction with Plastic Waste
The proper disposal of single-use plastic waste is actively promoted through this process, resulting in the construction and strengthening of 813 kilometers of roads by the Yogi government. This innovative approach has fortified 466 roads and routes, with an impressive daily average of one road and one bridge built every three days.
India, as per a report by the World Bank Blogs, leads globally in the construction of plastic roads, with over 2,500 kilometers already built. This technique is employed in 15 countries, including the United States.
Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a frontrunner in constructing plastic roads, furthering the state's infrastructural development. Additionally, the government has allocated ₹200 crore for the removal of 567 black spots on roads in the fiscal year 2023-24. With a daily average of 9 kilometers for widening and strengthening existing roads and 11 kilometers for constructing new ones, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly enhancing road connectivity and infrastructure.
