Union Government Approves 7.2km Road for Uttarakhand

road linking Pulna to Bhyundar villages in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand
The Union government has granted in-principle approval for constructing a 7.2km road linking Pulna to Bhyundar villages in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. This road will benefit tourists heading to the Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Garhwal Himalayas. Once completed, it will shorten the trekking route to the valley by 7km, reducing the distance from Ghangharia, the trek's base point, to approximately 5km. Additionally, the journey to the Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib, which begins from Ghangharia, will be cut to around 8km from the current 15km, providing easier access to the revered gurdwara and the nearby ice-bound lake of Hemkund.
