Manipur CM Lays Foundation for Imphal Ring Road Project

Ring Road Project
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the ₹1,766 crore Imphal Ring Road Project, with financial aid of ₹1374.75 crore from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The 51.23 km long project, initiated in 2015-16 and approved in 2020, aims to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution in Imphal West district.

State Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam highlighted the project's unique feature of incorporating a noise pollution control mechanism, a first in India. The road will comprise 9.5 km of four-lane and 41.5 km of two-lane with paved shoulders, including an 18 km green field segment with solar lighting, footpaths, and cycle lanes.

Konthoujam outlined plans for food plazas and amenities along the four-lane stretch, with dedicated lanes for cycling and jogging over a 1 km stretch.
