SBI to Downsell Half of ₹11,000 Cr Loan to Adani's Ganga E-way Project

State Bank of India (SBI)
State Bank of India (SBI) is in discussions to downsell half of its nearly ₹11,000-crore loan exposure to the Adani Group's Ganga Expressway project, the longest tolled road project in the country. SBI is in talks with institutions such as NaBFID, PNB, and power finance companies for this purpose. The move is part of standard practice in infrastructure financing, with at least four lenders expressing interest in buying the debt. NaBFID, particularly, finds the long-term loan suitable for its infrastructure-focused portfolio. SBI's decision on downselling is expected to be based on risk management considerations and the proportionate sanctions of other lenders involved.
