The Chief Minister of Manipur initiated the ₹1,766 crore Imphal Ring Road Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with assistance worth ₹1374.75 crore. State Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam highlighted the project's aim to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution in Imphal West district. Notably, the project integrates a noise pollution control mechanism, a first in India. The road spans 9.5 km as four-lane and 41.5 km as two-lane with paved shoulders. Additionally, an 18 km greenfield section with solar lighting, footpaths, and cycle lanes is included. Amenities like food plazas and provisions for cycling and jogging lanes along a 1 km stretch are also planned.
