Nitin Gadkari Expresses Concerns Over Highway Project Planning DPRs
He specifically highlighted the responsibility of some National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officers for the financial difficulties faced by various infrastructure companies. Gadkari emphasized the regrettable situation where full payments are not made to DPR consultants by the government.
Gadkari stated that the current focus in the ministry is on floating tenders for highway construction without adequate emphasis on quality. He pointed out that every highway project has identified black spots, indicating areas of concern. Urging NHAI to hire competent professionals for DPR preparation, Gadkari highlighted the need for a concerted effort to ensure the quality of highway construction projects.
