NHAI to deploy more equipment to clear NHs in Himachal
Amid relentless rains in Himachal Pradesh, major national highways like Chandigarh-Manali and Kalka-Shimla have suffered extensive damage, prompting the state government to seek assistance from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Over 1,239 roads across the state require restoration, with Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri emphasizing the urgency to deploy necessary equipment and machinery. However, officials have highlighted the immense destruction and challenging weather conditions, leading to delays in clearing boulders and reopening highways. The Chandigarh-Manali national highway remains blocked at four locations near Mandi, with a 150-meter-wide rockslide obstructing the road. Several parts of the state, including Manali, Kasol, and Parvati Valley, have been cut off, as landslides, power disruptions, and bridge damage continue to wreak havoc. The local administration is making concerted efforts to restore road connectivity in the affected areas.
