NHAI starts Kodungallur-Edappally NH widening in Kerala

NHAI
The National Highway Authority of India has started the construction work on widening and upgrading the Kodungallur-Edappally national highway into a six-lane stretch with a flyover at Cheranelloor junction. The terminal road intersects with the NH 66, and the Edappally Junction and the bypass would also get a major upgrade as a part of the highway development. The Cheranelloor Junction would be extended to the eastern side and around 60 commercial buildings would be demolished to carry out widening and development of the junction for which NHAI has already put in place all the mandatory clearances.

The road would be widened up to the parking area of Lulu Mall in the junction and funds to the tune of ₹1200 crore are being disbursed as compensation for acquiring about 28 hectares of land for the widening works. The project is a part of developing around 60-km of the highway, from Talappady in Kasargod to Karode in Thiruvananthapuram into a six-lane highway.
