MoRTH to use prefabricated material for road construction

Union Minister of State for Road Transport
Union Minister of State for Road Transport, V K Singh, announced that the use of prefabricated materials in road and highway construction will increase the pace of building to 100-150 km per day, up from the current rate of 33 km. The ministry is working to ensure that most materials used in construction are prefabricated, except for foundations for bridges and other structures. Prefabrication in a factory setting will also reduce pollution on the construction site. Additionally, the ministry is working on creating green highways, which will feature extensive vegetation on either side of the road to reduce CO2 emissions. In some areas, the government has also partnered with village groups to maintain these plantings.
