Maharashtra clears ₹2,000-cr for road projects in Pune

Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits
The Maharashtra government has approved a budget of ₹2,000 crore for the construction of several roads, including the Katraj-Kondhwa road within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. The Deputy Chief Minister announced that the state government will cover 60% of the project cost, while the PMC will cover the remaining 40%. The PMC had previously submitted various projects and requested assistance from the state government. The Katraj-Kondhwa road, which sees a high volume of heavy vehicle traffic and connects the southern and eastern parts of the city, is a particularly busy stretch in Pune. With the area experiencing significant real estate development, both vehicle and passenger traffic have increased dramatically, leading to frequent traffic congestion. In the past, land acquisition issues have forced the PMC to reduce the width of the proposed Katraj-Kondhwa road from 84 meters to 50 meters.
