SaMoTer 2026 to Spotlight Sector Stability as Italian Construction Machinery Exports Hold Steady

Italian construction machinery exports stood at approximately €3.226 billion in 2025, registering a marginal decline of 0.5% compared to the previous year. The performance reflects overall stability in the sector, supported primarily by strong demand for earthmoving equipment, even as geopolitical tensions, trade challenges, and subdued global demand continue to weigh on growth.
The data, released in the third International Trade Report 2026 by Unacea in collaboration with CER, highlights mixed trends across product categories and export markets.
Earthmoving machinery remained the key growth driver, generating €1.55 billion in exports, up 7.1% year-on-year. Tower cranes and road-building equipment also posted modest gains. However, segments such as aggregate processing, drilling, and concrete machinery recorded declines, reflecting uneven demand across the supply chain.
“Despite a complex international environment, the sector has shown significant stability,” said Luca Nutarelli, Director of Unacea, noting that exports continue to be supported by innovation, sustainability-focused strategies, and expansion into new markets.
Regionally, export growth was strongest in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the United States, Brazil, and parts of Africa, helping offset weaker demand in other markets. Overall, the trade surplus narrowed to nearly €911 million in 2025, down 14.1% from the previous year.
Looking ahead, industry prospects will hinge on infrastructure investments across Europe and other major markets, alongside the sector’s transition towards more sustainable and digitally integrated machinery. Increasing digitalization of construction processes is also expected to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
Against this backdrop, SaMoTer 2026 will serve as a key industry platform, bringing together over 500 exhibitors across six halls and three outdoor areas, covering more than 50,000 square metres. Organized by Veronafiere in partnership with Unacea and CECE, the event will focus on innovation, sustainability, and digitalization—core drivers shaping the future of the construction machinery sector.
The exhibition is expected to position Verona as a central hub for global industry stakeholders, offering insights into market trends and providing a platform for business engagement across the construction value chain.
