Indian Railways Approves Rs 976 Crore Danapur-Fatuha Multitracking Project in Bihar
The project includes laying third and fourth lines between Danapur and Patna, a third line between Rajendra Nagar and Patna Saheb, and third and fourth lines between Patna Saheb and Fatuha. The additional tracks will reduce congestion, minimise delays and improve operational efficiency across the Patna region.
Once operational, the upgraded corridor will accommodate 22 additional passenger trains and 18 additional freight trains daily, while enabling the movement of an additional 5.2 million tonnes of freight annually.
The project is part of the Delhi–Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction–Patna–Kiul–Bhagalpur–Khana–Howrah quadrupling corridor, a key route under Indian Railways' Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor. It will also strengthen rail connectivity for the upcoming 2,120 MW Chausa Thermal Power Plant in Buxar, which will rely on rail transport for bulk cargo.
