The project will cover 146 track kilometres and strengthen the electric traction infrastructure to support growing railway operations and traffic requirements on the section.
The Savalyapuram-Guntur traction upgrade forms part of HUN Route 8, which covers the Vasco-Gadag-Guntakal-Nandyal-Savalyapuram-Guntur-Vijayawada route.
The upgraded traction system will enhance the capacity of the power supply infrastructure for electric train operations, enabling Indian Railways to handle increasing traffic more efficiently. It is also expected to improve the capacity and reliability of the HUN route and support smoother train operations across the region.
The project is part of Indian Railways’ efforts to modernise electric traction infrastructure, increase network capacity and prepare the railway system for future traffic growth.
