Telangana infuses ₹2,062-cr in urban infrastructure

Telangana government has provided financial assistance of ₹2,062 crore to 142 urban local bodies (ULBs) under the ‘Pattana Pragathi’ program. State minister, K T Rama Rao informed that the infusion aimed at improving sanitation and infrastructure in ULBs. The state’s administration has aimed at placing Hyderabad among the top 30 cities in the world.

Hyderabad has topped the mega cities with 48.66 sq km of green cover in a decade as per the Forest Survey of India 2021 as the government in the state implemented progressive urban policies and initiatives and this has transformed its urban landscape after its formation, the total number of ULBs increased from 69 to 142. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been able to obtain loans for ₹5,983 crore to take up capital-intensive works, out of which around ₹2,000 crore was obtained without the state government guarantee where banks have done due diligence after checking the GHMC balance sheet and from its own resources, the GHMC is undertaking capital developmental works worth ₹8,965 crore.
