The plan includes replacing traditional electricity poles with smart distribution plugs, which will cater to domestic consumers in Srinagar. The Smart Cities Mission, a flagship program of the Narendra Modi government, encompasses a total of 125 projects. Among these, 55 projects have already been completed, including the redevelopment of the renowned Polo View Market, while the remaining projects are scheduled for execution by the end of the year.
The mission's objective is to transform Srinagar into a modern, sustainable, and economically vibrant city, with a specific focus on enhancing infrastructure, services, and mobility. Khan emphasized that all projects falling under the mission, overseen by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, will contribute to strengthening urban infrastructure, improving city services, enhancing public aesthetics, facilitating ease of living, and fostering a clean and sustainable environment.
