NHPC inks MoU for Rs. 4,000-cr hydro projects in Gujarat
NHPC, a major player in hydro power generation, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Power Corporation (GPCL) for a substantial investment in the Kuppa pumped hydro storage project with a capacity of 750 MW in Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat. The project, requiring an investment of Rs. 4,000 crore, is poised to play a crucial role in energy storage, contributing to the national goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and attaining a net-zero target by 2070. The collaboration between NHPC and GPCL not only aims for sustainable energy solutions but also envisions creating job opportunities and fostering local economic growth. With NHPC's existing total installed capacity of 7,097.2 MW in renewable energy and ongoing projects, this initiative further strengthens their commitment to the country's energy landscape.
