MoSPI Tracks 1,987 Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 42.5 Lakh Cr Through PAIMANA Platform

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is monitoring 1,987 Central Sector infrastructure projects worth Rs 42.50 lakh crore through its PAIMANA digital platform, strengthening real-time project tracking and data-driven decision-making across 17 ministries and departments.

According to the latest PAIMANA Flash Report for May 2026, the projects have incurred cumulative expenditure of Rs 21.82 lakh crore, representing 51.34% of the revised project cost. Of the total projects, 817 have achieved over 80% physical progress, while 280 have crossed 80% financial completion.

The Transport and Logistics sector dominates the portfolio with 1,476 projects worth Rs 23.50 lakh crore, followed by the Energy sector with 214 projects valued at Rs 11.25 lakh crore. The monitored portfolio includes 813 mega projects costing Rs 1,000 crore and above and 1,174 major projects valued between Rs 150 crore and Rs 1,000 crore.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways accounts for the highest number of projects at 1,149, followed by the Ministry of Railways with 261 projects. Other major contributors include the Ministries of Coal, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Power and Housing & Urban Affairs.

During May 2026, 16 infrastructure projects were commissioned, including the Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant (3x660 MW), Ahmedabad Metro Phase-I and the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline Project. The Ministry also added 35 new projects to the PAIMANA platform, including the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II, the Nidadavolu-Duvvada third and fourth railway lines, and the four-laning of the Pathalgaon-Kunkuri section of NH-43.

PAIMANA is a centralized web-based platform for monitoring Central Sector infrastructure projects worth Rs 150 crore and above. The portal integrates data from multiple ministries through APIs, serving as a national repository for standardized infrastructure monitoring and improved project governance.
