The Geological Survey of India (GSI)
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has identified 392 mineral development projects, spanning G2, G3, G4, and off-shore explorations, during its Field Season for 2024-25. These projects have the potential to generate actionable mineral blocks, with an additional 133 projects showing promise for future exploration in the G4 stage. The focus of exploration is on strategic and critical fertiliser minerals, with 188 projects targeting commodities like rare earth elements, graphite, lithium, vanadium, and platinum group of elements. This represents a nearly 50% increase from the previous year's target. Additionally, 111 projects related to natural hazard studies and public good geoscience, with 25 state-requested programs, are underway for societal benefits and collaboration. The initiative aims to accelerate the exploration of critical minerals.
