Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved 2,89,355 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) for Rajasthan, with a total outlay of Rs 3,473 crore. He also approved Rs 340.59 crore under agricultural development initiatives and the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana during a state-level programme in Baran.

Addressing the event alongside Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chouhan said the housing approvals would provide permanent homes to poor families currently living in kutcha houses. He added that a survey covering 29.13 lakh new beneficiaries has been completed, and houses will be sanctioned to all eligible families after physical verification.

The Union Minister also announced key changes to the PMAY-G eligibility criteria. Families owning a two-wheeler will now be eligible for housing assistance, the monthly income limit for women has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, and small farmers owning up to 5 acres of unirrigated land or 2.5 acres of irrigated land will also qualify for the scheme.

Chouhan said the Centre aims to increase the number of Lakhpati Didis in Rajasthan from 16 lakh to 32 lakh, adding that Rs 13,400 crore has already been disbursed through banks to support women entrepreneurs.

He also highlighted the Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Yojana, under which Rajasthan has been allocated an investment target of Rs 12,000 crore over the next nine months. The initiative aims to strengthen rural infrastructure, with development priorities to be decided by gram panchayats.

On agriculture, Chouhan said the government is ensuring that farmers continue to receive a bag of urea for Rs 266, despite its international cost being around Rs 3,000, and warned of strict action against black marketing of fertilisers. He also announced that stronger laws against fake seeds and pesticides would be introduced in the next session of Parliament.

The minister further said the Centre would prepare a comprehensive agricultural roadmap for the Kota-Jhalawar region, focusing on crop diversification, processing, marketing and exports to enhance farmers' incomes.
