Ambuja Cements to expand capacity by 8MMT with focus on green initiatives
Ambuja Cements, a part of the Adani Group, has announced plans to expand its clinker capacity by eight million tonnes at the Bhatapara and Maratha units. The expansion includes the installation of 42 MW of waste heat recovery systems (WHRS) and provisions to utilize 50% alternative fuel and operate on green power. Ajay Kapur, CEO of the Cement Business, stated that these brownfield expansion projects are in line with their strategy to double production capacity to 67.5 million tonnes per annum over the next five years. The capacity expansion will facilitate the production of 14 million tonnes of blended green cement, pending necessary approvals. The projects are anticipated to be commissioned within 24 months and will be financed through internal accruals.
