The first major addition, the LTM 1450-8.1, has been handed over to Schmidbauer. The remaining 16 cranes will be delivered in stages and allocated across various locations within the Schmidbauer Group. The LTM 1450-8.1 will be based at the company’s headquarters in Gräfelfing, near Munich, Germany.
The investment forms part of Schmidbauer’s long-term fleet strategy, which focuses on adopting modern technology, improving equipment availability and efficiency, and continuously renewing its crane fleet. The company aims to strengthen its capabilities in industrial, energy and infrastructure projects.
“The continuous renewal of our fleet is a key element in our ability to meet the high demands of our markets. With state-of-the-art crane technology, we are laying the foundations to continue supporting our customers reliably, safely and efficiently in their projects,” said Minka St. James, Director of Strategic Development at Schmidbauer.
The new cranes will be deployed across a range of applications, including complex lifting operations in the industrial and energy sectors, infrastructure projects, plant construction and large-scale assembly work. The LTM 1450-8.1 will further expand the company’s capabilities in heavy-lift operations and large-scale crane projects.
Schmidbauer said its decision to select Liebherr was based on the cranes’ technological capabilities, quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness and the manufacturer’s sales and service network. The two companies have maintained a long-standing partnership, with Liebherr cranes operating in Schmidbauer’s fleet for many years.
“Liebherr cranes have proven themselves over many years in daily use under the most demanding conditions,” said Werner Schmidbauer, Managing Director of the Liebherr Group.
