National Green Hydrogen Mission Awards 30 KTPA Capacity for Four Indian Refineries

The capacity has been allocated under the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) Mode-2B scheme. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. will set up a 10 KTPA green hydrogen facility at its Panipat refinery, while Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. has been awarded 10 KTPA at Numaligarh. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. will establish a 5 KTPA facility at Bina, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. will develop a 5 KTPA project at Vizag.
The projects will be implemented through the Build Own Operate (BOO) model by private developers, with investments made by the respective project developers.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said the initiative will help reduce India's dependence on imported fossil fuels, strengthen energy security and support the country's clean energy transition and net-zero ambitions.
