Kroma Paints Expands High-Performance Protective Coatings

“Our formulations are built to perform even in extreme environments and ensure long-term protection from corrosion,” said Ritesh Patel, Managing Director.
A key differentiator for Kroma Paints is its in-house manufacturing of both resins and paints at its facility in Ahmedabad. According to Patel, this ensures tight control over quality, consistency and performance. “We not only supply paint but also recommend the most suitable coating system, right from surface preparation to application intervals, so that customers achieve the best adhesion, finish, and durability.”
With its new manufacturing facility, the company has strengthened its technical processes, including stringent checks on gloss levels, finish categories, and performance parameters to ensure each batch meets the exact specifications. “Our complaint rate is less than 0.1% as we make sure that customers do not face issues during or after application,” said Patel.
He observed that corrosion continues to be a major challenge in India, especially as harsh weather cycles intensify. “In many industries, paint still gets third priority. Once equipment manufacturing is done, painting receives the least attention.”
Patel stressed that OEMs need to define paint standards, application parameters, and minimum dry-film thickness to significantly extend the life of their equipment. “Just by adopting the right painting system, customers can add 20–25 years to the life of their assets.”
Given India’s diverse climate, from heat and humidity to extreme cold, the company has developed uniform formulations that perform consistently across seasons. “Whatever effect weather has on our body, similar effects occur on steel and coatings. We have derived formulations that minimise defects regardless of temperature or humidity,” he said.
Patel emphasised that correct application is as important as the coating itself. To address inconsistencies on the shop floor, the company conducts extensive training for painting teams. “We found this to be a big gap. Our engineers regularly train painters, check application parameters, measure dry-film thickness, and guide them on improving practices. This has helped enhance both painter performance and coating life.”
Reflecting on FY 2025, Patel described it as a strong year marked by increased market share and deeper customer engagement. “Many leaders in the market simply supply paints without educating customers. We focus on guiding them on system selection and application, which has strengthened our relationship and boosted business.”
Looking ahead, Kroma Paints aims to secure third-party certifications and expand collaborations with customers on technical training and project-specific coating requirements. The company plans to grow by aligning its systems with global benchmarks and support applicators and project teams with the right knowledge.
