Kennametal's drilling, road rehabilitation & wear protection solutions
Kennametal India Limited displayed a comprehensive range of innovative foundation drilling, road rehabilitation, mining, and wear protection solutions. On display was the company’s Next-Gen Road King™ tool series for road rehabilitation. Launched earlier this year with several design enhancements, Road King provides advanced milling machine performance. The new design elements maximize tool life and make tooth changes easy and efficient for operators. The new RK31, RK32 and RK54 feature improved body, washer, and retainer design for optimum carbide tip usage, better rotation, and reduced axial play, which further improves holder protection as well as retention in the current generation of tool holders.
Also notable in Kennametal’s road rehabilitation line was its block system featuring a taper locking sleeve and the new CB22 ‘Stack-on System’ that converts an OEM’s bolt-on system to a taper sleeve system — suitable for quick field repairs or maintenance to return drums to their original pattern.
In the foundation drilling category, Kennametal displayed the premium 38/30mm shank series conical tools; concomitant holders for hydraulic rigs and wall cutters; KF Series quick change flat cutters, weld-on teeth, and flat teeth with TC buttons, known for maximizing productivity and boosting overall performance; and a 25mm shank conical tool and holder along with a new “core barrel ring,” designed by in-house experts as per customers’ requirements.
“These leading-edge cutting solutions for foundation drilling applications keep our client’s high-value equipment running longer and performing better in demanding environments, while continually providing efficient solutions,” said Vijaykrishnan Venkatesan, Managing Director, Kennametal India Limited.
“One of our key application segments is road milling, where we are looking to expand our business and also exploring new opportunities in the growing piling and foundation drilling applications in India,” he added.
In the surface mining category, Kennametal showed its conical tools with the industry’s first taper tip for surface miners, yielding new levels of performance and productivity. Also on display was KenCast™ wear protection solutions that can help boost equipment lifespan up to six times longer, while also reducing costly repairs and downtime.
Kennametal aims to bring more value to OEMs through its forte in tungsten carbide tools, which are designed to optimize equipment activity and uptime. “As part of our business development with the OEMs and the aftermarket, we will continue to educate our customers on the high utility of our tools, which deliver a longer life to customers machines along with a lower cost per meter,” informed Venkatesan. “We make the tools as per the given specifications and standards of the OEMs.”
“At Kennametal, we have the technical expertise to design, engineer and produce tungsten carbide tools of varied grades and geometries to work across different terrains and the harshest of operating environments.”
“Working towards sustainability, Kennametal Inc. leverages infinitely recyclable tungsten carbide for its end-of-life sintered carbide products and hard scrap carbide as high as 90%,” informed Venkatesan.
