New Indian Contractor Takes Delivery of Its First Liebherr Flat –Top Crane – a 71 EC-B 5i
With Shanti meaning 'peace and quiet' in Bengali and Niketan meaning 'a place to live', it literally translates into 'a peaceful place to live.
Newly formed, the company's philosophy, according to Project Manager, B.K.Tiwari, is 'people first' throughout every aspect of design and construction.
"In order to ensure the highest quality of construction throughout we believe in buying the best equipment with 'top-branded' products such as the Liebherr crane."
The contractor is also considered to be the first in the region to use aluminium shuttering – which, together with the Liebherr crane is working to a 4-day floor cycle; compared with the traditional 15 days.
Featuring a 3.05 m floor height and a 150 mm slab thickness, additives speed setting times to just three hours. A chemical spray on the shuttering system further improves the curing cycle.
Construction on the first 18-storey tower started last year in a 30- month completion contract for the development. With foundations on the second tower underway, the Liebherr EC-Bi tower crane will be transferred once the first tower has been 'topped out.'
"Todate, the Liebherr's performance has been excellent with no problems, meeting all our expectations," said Tiwari.
The 71EC-B 5i, like all Liebherr EC-B Flat-Top cranes, is based on a modular design concept, so that the tower system is compatible with any other crane in this range. It has a maximum lifting capacity of 5000 kg and with a working radius of 50 m. It can lift 1000 kg at the jib end.
Interior climbing system
Liebherr has designed its interior climbing system specifically for use on small to medium-sized construction tasks. It permits the crane to be located centrally inside the building. The tower is based on a module of only 1.2 x 1.2 m and is therefore ideal for climbing even in very compact lift shafts or air conditioning ducts.
Shantiniketan development
Featuring four apartments per floor, each 18-storey tower with a 6200 ft² 'footprint', will include a two-storey penthouse suite. All apartments also have a large terrace for outdoor private space. The towers also include three lifts per block with a large 12 – 14 ft wide lift lobby and a fire tower instead of normal fire escape staircases for additional safety.
The towers structural design complies with earthquake zone 5 seismic zones, even though Noida lies within zone 4.
