CMAC….20 Years & Counting

CMAC-Tower-Crane
The Indian infrastructure & Real Estate sectors have amongst the mainstays of the Indian growth story from the year 2000 onwards. As newer domains began to open up, mechanization kept growing at project sites, and by 2005, mechanization had taken a leap to customized machines. These were cutting down construction time and reducing reliance on labour whose availability was erratic, and who were often semi-skilled.

Gradually, specialized machines began to be introduced for special tasks, and conventional / basic machines began to come with special attachments to enable their wider application. As the market started gaining momentum, CMAC entered the market with its Man & Material transportation equipment. The year was 2006. The company’s foray was cautious, and no compromise was made on its values – be it the quality of its machines, their performance, or efficiency.

Make in India was the core around which the company built its mission. Everybody at CMAC was brought on board with this understanding. Though the gestation period was longer, the growing market kept the team motivated, and they continued to meet the company’s goals with dogged determination. When the first few CMAC machines were sold, the team upheld the company’s commitment to timely delivery, aftersales response, and turnaround time.

CMAC
Like any other organization CMAC faced its challenges but remained unfazed. Its aim was to offer solutions and not just equipment. This was possible because of its strong design set-up that built the most appropriate tech-enabled solutions using high quality aggregates. The steel fabrication remains, till date, the best-in-class with no cost cutting or what is called ‘value engineering’.

Over the years, CMAC’s engineering capability became more robust. From being just another product-driven company, it also became known for providing solutions and the ‘go-to’ OEM for customers looking for customized equipment. This put CMAC on a fast track. When most of the MSMEs were battling the Covid related slowdown, CMAC beat the market trend and started growing at a pace faster than the market’s growth.

The last 5 years have seen CMAC grow at a CAGR double that of the market. It has recently completed 20 years of service to the Indian and overseas markets.

Today, CMAC is seen as a stable and a reliable company because of its transparent and honest dealings when providing sales, service and spare parts. These are the reasons why CMAC has been associated with some of the most prestigious infrastructure projects across India, and has bagged repeat orders from corporates. The fact that the company enjoys over 95% customer retention testifies to its commitment to the 3S. What also works in its favour is that it stays with its customer (user/buyer) through its product lifecycle.

CMAC recently celebrated 20 years of service with two high points:

Vasudev-Cheruvu
Vasudev Cheruvu, the next generation of the top management, has been inducted into the company after moving from USA. His objective is to take the company’s Make in India commitment to the next level of advancement, and bring modern systems and processes across the entire value chain.

The second high point of the celebration was the addition of new construction products: Tower Cranes and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.

CMAC is at the threshold of expansions, more achievements, and solutions, which will take it to new levels of growth in the years to come.
