Roadtec is a part of Astec Industries, a corporation known as a world leader in asphalt technology. Founded in 1981, Roadtec began as a manufacturer of asphalt pavers. Initially with the combined technology of Roadtec and the Barber-Greene Company, the paver line continued, along with the milling machines, and material transfer vehicle. Later Roadtec reorganized in Chattanooga, Tennessee to manufacture the entire line of road building equipment for Astec Industries.

Milling machines are available in four models depending upon the applications like utility/commercial milling, half line milling and half to full line milling.
Roadtec RX-500 is ideal for half lane milling application, The RX-500 is a 630 hp (470 kW) cold planer with sufficient conveyor swing (60° left or right) and turning radius to accommodate today's demanding urban milling conditions. This lighter weight versatile machine allows contractor to cut up to 13" (330 m) deep with width of 6'3" (1.9 m), 6'7" (2 m), or 7'2" (2.184 m). A two-stage front load out conveyor provides ample loading capacity. With the horsepower, maneuverability, and versatility, RX-500 can be operated more days per year than any other of its size.
All Roadtec Milling Machines start with an extremely strong frame completely fabricated, welded and assembled. This gives complete control over the design and quality of the build. Roadtec is the only manufacturer to use A656 Grade 80 steel throughout the frame. This special grade of steel has twice the strength of the mild steel that is commonly used. This allows Roadtec to build and stronger lighter frame than anybody else in the industry.
Roadtec offers bolt-on track pads standard because it saves the customer money.
