Tenders Issued for ₹750 cr Widening Project on Chennai–Tirupati NH
Tenders have been announced for the widening of the 44-km stretch of the Chennai–Tirupati National Highway (NH 716) from Tiruvallur to the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border. The project, estimated at ₹750 crore, aims to convert the present two-lane road into a four-lane stretch with paved shoulders. The initiative includes the construction of 20 underpasses at major junctions. The project will utilize a 60-meter-wide right of way without requiring additional land acquisition. The development also envisions a utility corridor, unpaved drain, and green spaces for safety and aesthetics. Consumer advocates emphasize timely completion and the addition of facilities like truck lay bays, restrooms, and parking spaces for travelers.
