Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of sanctioning a Rs 250-crore project for Uttarakhand under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). The assurance came during a meeting in New Delhi where Dhami requested financial and administrative approval for the CRIF proposals.

Additionally, Chief Minister Dhami sought funds for the restoration of national highways in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand that were damaged by natural disasters. In response, Gadkari advised submitting a proposal under the flood damage repair (FDR) for consideration.

Furthermore, Gadkari consented to the request of nominating the Uttarakhand Public Works Department as the construction agency for improving and widening National Highway-109, which connects the Kumaon region with the rest of the country.

Gadkari also directed officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite the work on the crucial two-lane tunnel project in Mussoorie.

Moreover, Chief Minister Dhami sought approval for a Rs 367.35-crore plan to make NH 123, connecting Yamunotri Dham, a two-lane road. This route serves as an alternative for the Chardham Yatra pilgrimage.
