NHAI Revives BOT Model, Calls Bids for ₹31,000cr Highway Projects

The total length of highways for which bids have been invited is 517.4 km, with a total project cost expected to be ₹30,975 crore. These projects were initially part of a list of 15 highway stretches covering 937 km slated for award under BOT during this financial year. The move aims to encourage private participation in highway construction, with the government pushing for the BOT model to save resources and improve construction quality.
The BOT projects include a 6-lane greenfield access-controlled expressway between Agra and Gwalior, passing through Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, with an estimated project cost of ₹3,841 crore. The government's push for BOT is part of broader efforts to diversify funding sources for highway projects and enhance the overall quality of construction.
