Mumbai-Bengaluru highway widening gains momentum with innovative compensation plan

The Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway expansion
The Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway expansion is picking up pace, focusing on a vital 12-meter stretch between Kivale and Wakad. The project's land acquisition process will use Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and Floor Space Index (FSI) allocations for fair compensation to affected individuals. Approved by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the initiative will source land from Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) plan, benefitting neighborhoods like Wakad, Tathavade, Punawale, Ravet, Mamurdi, and Kivale. The collector’s office will oversee land acquisition. While TDR and FSI are primary options, cash compensation aligned with Land Acquisition Act could be available as well. This move is expected to not only enhance infrastructure but also improve regional connectivity and travel convenience for all.
