MoRTH decides to end deputation culture in highway building sector
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has decided to do away with the deputation culture in the road construction sector. Stung by the reports of faulty road construction and allegations of corruption from various quarters in the road and highways sector, the move is to carry out a complete revamp across highway projects’ executing agencies such as NHAI and NHIDCL by setting up a dedicated cadre within these organizations, enabling the internal promotion of executives to senior positions. The proposed shift is set to reshape the operations of these organisations. NHAI and NHIDCL constitute the primary arms of the government responsible for executing national highway projects. There is also a plan to revise the composition of these central agencies.
