Govt approves ₹3,235-cr road network in Nagaland

The Union Road Transport Ministry has sanctioned ₹3,235 crores for the construction of a new road network across Nagaland. Nitin Gadkari informed that the new projects include the development of Akhegwo to Avangkhu road stretch in three packages to provide international connectivity to Myanmar and boost connectivity to tourist-important-Shilloi Lake.

The ministry also approved new road projects worth ₹68,000 crore in four North Eastern states to make international standard surface connectivity. New projects worth ₹50,000 crore have been sanctioned for Assam, ₹9,000 crore for Meghalaya, ₹5,000 crore for Nagaland and ₹4,000 crore for Sikkim. Official target of highway construction has been kept at 12,000 km for the current fiscal and the ministry constructed 10,237 km in 2019-20, 13,327 kms in 2020-21, and 10,457 kms in 2021-22 respectively.
