BRO plans new bridge across Indus connecting east Ladakh
The Border Road Organization is building a new concrete bridge at Loma across the Indus River to facilitate the movement of heavy military equipment to eastern Ladakh. The road from Chushul to the Loma Bridge is currently unpaved and outdated, but with the construction of the Chushul-Demchok road, the country aims to improve its infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control. This project addresses a strategic gap in border management and meets the long-standing demand of the local community, and is expected to drive tourism growth.
